David Munro

David BioDavid Munro, Musical Director

 

Having started his musical life as a classical concert pianist David Munro turned his attentions to theatre, notably ballet and opera. He has worked as musical director, repetituer and composer for many ballet and contemporary dance companies including The Royal Ballet UK, Miami City Ballet USA, Mark Morris Dance Company and LCTD.

In the world of opera, he has musically directed and played in a wide range of works from Rossini through Puccini to Janacek and has composed numerous works for the stage which have been produced and broadcast throughout the world. A prolific composer, his commissions from the B.B.C. were recently nominated for a Sony Award in the UK. He is also a busy arranger and producer, including the Celtic Tenor's new album We Are Not Islands (IRE) /Remember Me (USA).

David has been musical director with the Celtic Tenors for four years now, having been lured away from the bright lights of the West-End show 'Chicago' in 2002. He arranged and produced Deirdre Shannon's latest solo album in November 2005.
