Deirdre Shannon

Deirdre ShannonDeirdre rose to prominence when Michael Flatley heard her special voice and invited her to star as Erin The Goddess in his worldwide phenomenon Lord of the Dance.

Leaving her solo position in the world-renowned vocal ensemble, Anúna, she took to the road and toured with Michael Flatley's show for the next four years to every major city in North, South and Central America.

Since then she has continued performing all over the world from The RoyalAlbert Hall in London to Carnegie Hall and Radio City in New York, picking up gold and platinum discs on the way.

She has worked extensively with The Celtic Tenors, featuring prominently on their album We Are Not Islands (Ireland)/Remember Me (America). This brought her to the attention of the producers of a new Irish show, Celtic Woman. Deirdre was offered a lead role and subsequently toured with Celtic Woman for a year in the USA.

Despite all this touring, Deirdre still found time to record a solo album Deirdre Shannon and to perform elsewhere, which TV appearances with Bob Geldof, Moya Brennan (Clannad), and Jamie Cullem will testify. Her recording career also lists some of the greats such as Elvis Costello, Air Supply, Michael Crawford and The Chieftains.

The future is indeed looking bright for this young Irish songstress...
